Built for one dog. Made for every dog.
EmberPaws started with a single Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever named Ember — and grew into a calm, private daily care app for everyone who loves their dog the way we love ours.
Why the app exists
Most pet apps are built to grow a database — yours. They want your data, your contacts, your habits, and they want a subscription on top. EmberPaws was built the opposite way: a focused tool for someone who already knows the most important thing — their dog matters — and just wants help keeping the small daily details straight.
Weight trends. Stool scores. Skin flare-ups. The flea & tick date you can never remember. The vaccination that quietly expires in three weeks. The vet appointment you booked two months ago. EmberPaws holds all of it so you don't have to.
Meet Ember
Ember is a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever — affectionately "LittleM" around the house. She's the founding demo dog, the first profile in every screenshot, and the reason this app has the colour palette it does (Toller copper, espresso brown, warm cream — yes, those came from her coat).
Tollers are a small, tightly-connected breed community in Nova Scotia, and the first version of EmberPaws was shaped by feedback from that community. That focus is intentional: we'd rather build something a small group truly loves than something a large group politely tolerates. The app is designed for every breed — but it earned its first stripes with the Tollers.
Our values
Privacy by default
Your data lives on your device. No analytics. No tracking. No third-party SDKs. Medications are never shareable.
No subscription
Free to download. No monthly fee. No locked features. No "premium tier" upsell. The app is the app.
Calm by design
Warm colours, soft type, no notifications you didn't ask for. A tool that feels good to open every day.
Built by a dog owner
Every feature exists because we needed it ourselves. If we wouldn't use it, it doesn't ship.
What's in the app today

- Smart Reminders — appointments, vaccination expiry, flea & tick due dates, grooming, birthdays.
- Vet Report — share a clean PDF or text summary in one tap. Medications always excluded.
- Sitter Info Sheet — feeding, meds, vet, allergies, and "while I'm away" notes as a one-tap PDF.
- Multi-dog support — switch the active dog from the dashboard or settings.
- Walking Club — organize a walk, share a code, see who's coming. Built on private CloudKit.
- Trail Finder & badges — drop pins for the trails you walk together; earn badges as you check in.
- iCloud sync — your records flow across your iPhones via your private CloudKit. Never via us.
- Apple Health integration — walks logged with a duration count toward your daily activity. Opt-in.
- Calendar sync — vet and grooming appointments mirror to your iPhone Calendar. Opt-in, write-only.
- Heat warnings — a weather-aware banner when today's forecast is too hot for the walk you scheduled.
- Vaccine schedule auto-builder — propose a baseline canine schedule from your dog's age. Confirm with your vet.
What's coming next
Phase 2 is about connecting dogs to dogs. The Litter Network will let you connect with your dog's littermates from the same breeder, compare growth charts, and spot shared health patterns early. A family CloudKit share for households with two humans managing the same dog. An Apple Watch companion for one-tap walk logging on the leash. Lock-screen and home-screen widgets for the Ember Score and today's reminders. A complete data export (JSON / CSV) for the careful folks who want their own backup.
None of it will compromise the privacy promise. Anything that leaves your device will be opt-in, every time.
Made in Nova Scotia
EmberPaws is independently designed and built on the East Coast of Canada. No investors. No marketing budget. No growth-at-all-costs pressure. Just a small team that thinks dogs deserve better software — and so do the people who care for them.
