Need help with EmberPaws? We're here. Most questions are answered below — if not, email us and we'll respond quickly.

How do I add a second dog?

Settings → Manage Dogs → tap the + button in the top right. Switch between dogs from the Dashboard's quick switcher (the ⇄ button next to the dog name) or from the Manage Dogs screen.

Both my dogs show as "Viewing" — switching doesn't work.

Rare but real — usually happens after a fresh install merges with existing iCloud data and both records end up marked active. The fix is automatic: open the app to the Home tab and the dashboard will reconcile to a single active dog within a second. If it persists, force-quit the app and reopen.

My data is missing after reinstalling the app.

EmberPaws syncs through your private iCloud (CloudKit), so reinstalling on the same Apple ID should restore your records automatically within a minute or two. If they don't appear: check Settings → iCloud Sync to confirm your iCloud account is detected. If you signed in with a different Apple ID or your account isn't signed into iCloud, the sync target is different.

How is the Ember Score calculated?

The Ember Score is a 0–100 daily wellness number calculated from your recent logs: weight trend, medication compliance, stool scores, skin condition, walk frequency, and feeding regularity. Green (thriving) · Amber (watch) · Red (needs attention). Tap the score on the Dashboard to see exactly which components are pulling it up or down.

How do I share a Vet Report or Sitter Info Sheet?

Vet Report: Dashboard → "Vet Report" Quick Action → opens iOS share sheet (PDF or text). Sitter Info Sheet: Settings → Sitter Info Sheet → toolbar share icon → choose PDF or text. Both exclude medications.

I turned on Calendar Sync but appointments aren't appearing.

Confirm the toggle is on under Settings → Integrations → Calendar Sync, and that you tapped "Allow" when iOS asked for calendar access. After that, any new appointment you save in EmberPaws will appear in your default calendar within seconds. If you previously denied access, open iOS Settings → EmberPaws → Calendars and grant write access.

I deleted an appointment from my Calendar app — it's still in EmberPaws.

That's by design. EmberPaws uses write-only Calendar access (we never read your existing events for privacy reasons), so we can't see when you delete on the Calendar side. Delete the appointment in EmberPaws to remove it from both. Your suggestions on this trade-off are welcome.

I logged a walk but it's not in Apple Health.

EmberPaws only writes a Walking workout when the walk has a duration set. Tap the entry to add minutes, save, and the workout will appear in Health within a few seconds. Confirm Apple Health sync is on under Settings → Integrations → Apple Health, and that you allowed write access in iOS's Health permissions screen.

Heat Warnings settings show "Couldn't fetch the forecast."

Make sure EmberPaws has location permission (iOS Settings → EmberPaws → Location → While Using). If the message persists after granting access, force-quit and reopen the app. WeatherKit's first call after a fresh install can take a moment.

What does the Purina Fecal Scoring System mean?

The Purina 1–5 Fecal Scoring System is a standardized scale used by vets to assess stool consistency. 1 is very hard (pellet-like), 5 is very soft/liquid. Ideal range is 2–3. EmberPaws uses this scale so the data you share with your vet is immediately meaningful to them.

Can I switch between lbs and kg?

Yes. Settings → Units → choose your preferred weight unit. All existing weight entries are converted automatically.

What is the Litter Network?

The Litter Network lets you connect with your dog's littermates from the same breeder — share growth charts, spot shared health patterns, and discover siblings near you. This feature is coming in Phase 2. You'll be notified when it's ready.
